Students in Silver Creek High School’s Academy of Finance were recognized at the April 22 board meeting for placements at regional and state Business Professionals of America competitions and for qualifying for the national contest in Orlando.
Ariana Bernard and Stephanie Agama spoke to the board, listing district competitors and placements across accounting, payroll accounting, business law and ethics, interview skills and prepared speech. Bernard told the board that seven students competed at the state conference and that four students — Noah Kane, Lisa Weeks, Caroline Barrenclough and Stephanie Agama — will represent Silver Creek at the national competition in Orlando in May.
“[This] will be the first year that Silver Creek is sending students to Nationals and this is an amazing opportunity for both us as students and for Silver Creek High School as a whole,” Stephanie Agama said.
Board members congratulated the students and asked district staff to arrange a photo and certificate presentation.
