The speaker said the total equipment-and-software package quoted was $55,090.74 and that the county would pay the full cost up front and be reimbursed by the grant provider later.
The speaker said the new systems would let deputies complete incident reports and other tasks in the field rather than returning to the sheriff’s office and that the county could eventually integrate the in‑car systems with 911 dispatch CAD software. The county’s annual software/support cost would increase by about $3,000 over current payments for sheriff’s office and jail software.
Commissioner (unnamed) moved to approve paying the upfront cost from the general fund, with the intention that the county be reimbursed by the grant; another commissioner seconded the motion. The motion carried and the board directed staff to record reimbursement when received.
Commissioners and staff also discussed the logistics of integrating the new systems with the county 911 system and agreed county IT/dispatch staff would coordinate with the vendor.
The sheriff’s office representative said the county would seek to recover roughly half the cost from the Georgia Chiefs Association reimbursement and that e‑ticketing functionality could offset program costs over time.
