Council signs treasurer's warrant, renews Spring Hill permits and appoints member to revitalization committee

The South Berwick Town Council on April 22 handled routine business including approval of minutes, the treasurer's warrant and license renewals.
The council adopted meeting minutes from April 8 for a public hearing on the FY26 municipal budget, the board of assessors meeting and the April 8 town council minutes after a minor spelling correction to a name in the town manager's report.
The treasurer's warrant dated April 17 for $248,199.75 was approved 4-0. Councilors asked about one expense item for Adirondack chairs in the amount shown on the warrant. Town staff explained the chairs will be purchased using the TIF downtown-beautification allocation and that every check is visible on the warrant regardless of the funding line. "Because it's being funded by the TIF... we will see it on your warrant," staff said.
Spring Hill's liquor license renewal and a special amusement permit were approved with no reported police issues, each by 4-0 votes. The council also read and approved a proclamation recognizing the 56th annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week and thanked Town Clerk Diane Jambuso and her staff.
On board appointments, the council appointed Dan Kenny to the downtown revitalization committee for a term expiring June 30, 2026. An alternate planning-board appointment for Ryan Fosby was tabled until a full council can act. The council also scheduled interviews for other candidates on May 13.
These routine approvals were taken without extended debate; staff and councilors said public notice will be used where appropriate for follow-up items.
