Commission approves airport grant submission, transit resolution and hospitality center application; payroll claims approved

Daviess County commissioners approved several routine administrative items by unanimous (3-0) votes during the meeting. The actions were procedural authorizations that will allow county staff and partner organizations to pursue grant funding and maintain existing services.

Airport grant: Erica (county airport staff) requested authority to submit grant paperwork for construction management and an access road tied to a new taxi lane. Commissioner Keith moved to authorize the signatures previously circulated; Commissioner Cook seconded. The motion passed 3-0 and staff presented originals for the record.

Transit resolution: Commissioners approved a resolution designating 4 Rivers DSI as the county’s partner/nonprofit for rural public transportation grant applications and funding. The vote was 3-0. Commissioners noted the county’s role is limited to authorizing the nonprofit to apply for federal funds to maintain rural transport service.

Hospitality center (Green Sub Center) application: Commissioners agreed to provide correspondence supporting an application to the state homeland-security planning program; the county is the owner of the facility by legacy arrangement but will not incur construction costs. Motion passed 3-0.

Payroll claims and adjournment: The board approved payroll claims and adjourned the meeting by unanimous vote.

Each item was advanced to permit partner organizations and staff to pursue state or federal grant funding or to complete required application steps; no new county-funded commitments were made in these votes.
