Daviess County commissioners voted 3-0 to allow county employees to enroll in AirMedCare through payroll deduction, after a presentation from an AirMedCare representative describing coverage and pricing options. The approved motion authorizes employee-funded payroll deductions for AirMedCare memberships; it does not commit county funds to pay memberships.
Holly Lagenau, an AirMedCare representative, told commissioners the membership covers the enrolled household and that AirMedCare bases in the region — including Paoli and Evansville — can typically reach incidents in the county in about 10 minutes. "It not only covers, the employee, but it would also cover every member in their family," Lagenau said. She explained pricing options cited in the presentation: $99 per year per household for an individual enrollment, discounted rates for multi-year group plans and a five-year lump-sum option (an example figure for a five-year plan appeared in the materials).
Commissioners asked whether the county would pay for memberships; several said they would not support county-funded memberships but were willing to allow payroll deduction as an employee benefit option. Commissioner Keith moved to approve payroll deduction for employee-funded AirMedCare memberships; Commissioner Cook seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
County staff and the AirMedCare representative said group pricing varies by total enrollments and by whether payroll deduction is used; under a group payroll-deduction arrangement, per-employee rates can fall substantially compared with individual sign-ups. Lagenau recommended payroll deduction to secure group pricing and suggested the county could offer both employee-paid and individually funded options.
The county will implement payroll deductions for employees who elect to participate and will provide additional enrollment details through human resources.
