Talbot County proclaims April 2025 Sexual Assault Awareness Month; local crisis center outlines prevention and support efforts

Talbot County Council on April adopted a proclamation recognizing April 2025 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and invited staff from For All Seasons Crisis Center to brief the council and the public on local services and prevention work.

For All Seasons vice president of marketing and communications Katie Tiki described the center’s scope and outreach. “We provide therapy, psychiatry, crisis services and education to the community and we are the only crisis center serving over 200,000 residents of the Midshore,” Tiki said. She told the council the agency serves clients “from toddler age all the way up through their nineties.”

Myisha Johnson, a victim advocate at For All Seasons, described her on‑call work supporting survivors: “I don't work a 9 to 5 — I'm on call 24/7. Healing doesn't have a time frame, so I get phone calls in the middle of the night. I do ER visits for clients who have been assaulted. I accompany them to court, protective orders.… Sometimes I'm the only support that they have.”

Tiki gave contact information during the presentation and directed residents to the agency’s website. The center’s main number is (410) 822‑1018; the 24/7 hotline is (410) 820‑5600; and a Spanish hotline is (410) 829‑6143. For All Seasons also noted a SipSafe prevention campaign and distributed a drink‑cover scrunchie being delivered to Chesapeake College and Washington College to raise awareness of drug‑facilitated assault.

Tiki also invited residents to a community art activity at the Ivy the following day, where participants could decorate denim patches with messages of support for survivors; patches will be displayed at the crisis center.

The council approved the proclamation by voice vote. Council members thanked the presenters and highlighted the value of local crisis services and outreach.
