The Kent County Board of County Commissioners on April 22 authorized the Kent County Local Management Board (LMB) to submit the FY2026 Children’s Cabinet Interagency Fund (CCIF) proposal.
A representative of the LMB told commissioners the CCIF award supports operations for the local management board office and several county youth programs, including Healthy Families home visiting, a high-school mental-health program, a middle-school program called Minari’s Dream Academy, and a planned continuation of a summer program called Hip Hop Time Capsule. The LMB representative said the state match program will provide $3 for every $1 the county contributes in one proposed allocation: a $24,000 county contribution intended to leverage $96,000 to establish a Big Brothers Big Sisters presence in Kent County.
Board members noted that the statewide Enough Act competitive funds will be reduced in FY2026, but that the CCIF base allocation remains level for the coming year. The commissioners authorized submission of the application; the motion passed unanimously.
If the CCIF award is finalized, the LMB and county staff will return with details about program budgets and any required county match commitments.
