The Muscle Shoals Board of Education approved a personnel report that lists numerous resignations and retirements, staff transfers, new hires and supplemental assignments across the district.
During the meeting the superintendent read an extensive list of personnel actions the board approved by voice vote after Dr. Stoddard moved the motion and Dr. Davis seconded it. The superintendent said several items were effective June 1 unless otherwise noted and read resignations, transfers and new hires by name, school and effective dates.
Resignations and retirements listed included Matthew Carpenter, assistant supervisor of student services (effective June 1); multiple teachers and staff across McBride Elementary, Muscle Shoals Middle School, Muscle Shoals High School and districtwide positions with effective dates mostly in May or July. Transfers and reassignments included Amy Hellams (clerical aide at Muscle Shoals Middle School, effective July 23) and several teacher reassignments effective July 31. New hires named in the packet and read aloud included Caroline Connor (speech-language pathologist, effective July 31), Lane Rinks (contract principal and career technical director, Muscle Shoals Career Academy, effective July 1) and others.
The superintendent also listed supplemental and part-time appointments, stipends for peer helper program leaders and summer school staff, and at least one leave of absence request and several employees currently on leave. The board noted a late addition of Karen Knight as community ed site lead (effective June 1).
Board members emphasized there remain vacancies after the actions and the superintendent said a special called meeting may be needed to approve additional personnel actions. No individual personnel contract amounts or salaries were read into the record. The packet contained the full personnel listings and the board approved the report as presented.
