Redmond parks shift to ‘naturalized’ landscapes: 19 meadows, wildflower sites, community gardens and a 500‑tree giveaway planned

Deputy Director Dave Tuchek and Parks Director Lorraine Hamilton told the council the program aims to reduce water use, increase pollinator habitat and improve tree canopy while maintaining accessible park space. Staff said the initiative mixes demonstration projects, staff‑led installations and community engagement to change how the city manages selected turf and planting areas.
