Board hears station technical report: computer drive issues, remote broadcast tools and backup transmitter repair

Station volunteers reported multiple technical issues and upgrades at the April 22 Ocean Shores Radio Board meeting, including computer storage problems that briefly took the station off the air, remote-broadcast tools configuration and a repaired backup transmitter ready for testing.
A volunteer described attempting to expand the station’s music library by converting an external 4-terabyte drive for use as an internal drive; the drive did not fit the small form-factor computer and later produced intermittent audio "hiccups" on a few tracks. The volunteer described extensive remote support efforts with an IT contractor to change Windows permissions and noted one folder remained missing from the restored backup but was later found in the submission folder. "I got us back on the air within, I think, about 4 and a half minutes," the volunteer said in the report.
Board members also confirmed remote-broadcast functionality. The station now has two Comrex remote units in use so DJs can beam shows in from home; volunteers said the units have worked well after initial configuration issues.
Separately, a higher-power backup transmitter returned from repair and will be installed and tested; board members noted a likely 90-day warranty period that makes prompt installation prudent.
The board asked volunteers to continue troubleshooting the file-permission issue and to complete installation of new studio hardware (console board, monitor) and the repaired transmitter. No formal votes were taken on equipment purchases at the meeting.
