City launches 2025 Environmental Sustainability Action Plan refresh; study session set for May 13

Sustainability Manager Jenny Liebeck told the committee on April 22 that the city has begun the 2025 refresh of its Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP), a regular five-year update to prioritize climate and sustainability actions for the next five years and align the plan with Redmond 2050.
Liebeck said the ESAP refresh will focus on recalibrating priorities, building partnerships for community engagement and presenting climate-analysis work that underpins the plan. She confirmed a first study-session presentation is scheduled for May 13; subsequent sessions will address specific medium-term actions. Councilmembers asked that the update include tracking toward the city’s municipal net-zero emissions targets for 2030 and suggested near-term priorities such as multifamily composting and a single-use food-service waste reduction policy.
