Webber told the committee that historically 4Culture awards to the city ranged from $15,000 to $18,000 annually; the larger award this year is tied to the launch of 4Culture’s Doors Open program and a reallocation of nonprofit-directed funds that freed up additional funding in other 4Culture grant categories.
Councilmembers asked about the duration of the increased funding; staff said 4Culture indicated the higher award level would continue for three years. Councilmember Stewart asked whether the larger award would expand services or relieve pressure on other funds; staff said the intent is to increase programming rather than supplant other funding sources.
