Organizers say Memorial Day 5K will honor fallen officer Louis Pompey and donate proceeds to schools

Sommer, who runs the race with partner Mike Bell, said this is the third annual event and that they have pledged at least half of proceeds to Glendora schools. He said the race grew in its first two years and that school donations to date have been modest but complete. Sommer said the police department reached out and the organizers created a dedicated law-enforcement category for participating officers and will include a moment at the start to honor Officer Pompey.
Sommer invited council and community members to participate, noting the event includes walkers as well as runners.
