Complete Streets Committee outlines priority-map, metrics and data needs to council planning committee

The city's newly organized Complete Streets Committee presented a work plan to the Planning & Development Committee, saying it will produce a priority network map and success metrics and is coordinating with the comprehensive-plan process.
Matt Lovell, chair of Homewood's recently reconstituted Complete Streets Committee, briefed the Planning & Development Committee on the group's goals and near-term work plan on April 21.
Lovell said the committee's immediate objectives are to draft a priority network map of streets where complete-streets interventions would be most beneficial, define success metrics for that network and coordinate community engagement. The committee plans to rely on the city's sidewalk inventory and paving list as baseline data and said the sidewalk inventory should be complete within 6–8 weeks.
Lovell described the committee as volunteer-led and said most work will not require an immediate budget outside of targeted data needs. Committee members asked about contact information and how to engage councilors in review; Lovell agreed to circulate contact details and to share the draft network and metrics for council input. The Planning & Development Committee voted to accept the presentation and move it to the consent agenda.
