Board approves staff hires, resignations and FTE changes; two employees move to half time

The Green Bay Area Public School District Board of Education approved employment, resignation and transfer items at its special meeting on April 17.
On a series of motions moved and seconded from the reorganized agenda, the board approved employment of staff as presented, accepted resignations as presented and approved staff transfers. Votes on the employment and resignation items were recorded by roll call and the motions carried.
During discussion of transfers, a district staff member explained that the district had received requests from two employees to reduce their FTE to half-time. Staff said the requests were employee-initiated and, after examining programming needs and existing openings, neither reduction would require posting for new personnel or backfill. In one case the district said the Da Vinci program already had a 0.5 opening next year, which allowed the position changes to be packaged without creating additional vacancies.
Board members asked whether such FTE reductions are considered permanent; staff replied that the requests are considered permanent but employees commonly request to return to a higher FTE in later years and the district has historically had opportunities for employees to increase their assignments.
All personnel motions presented under items e, f and g on the agenda were approved by majority vote.
