Commissioner Casey Miller read a proclamation declaring April 30, 2025, National Therapy Animal Day in Lincoln County, noting the role of Pet Partners therapy teams in hospitals, schools, libraries and other community settings. Bonnie Romola, executive director of Pet Partners of the Oregon Coast, and several registered teams presented at the meeting; Romola described hospital visits, school reading programs and planned spring appearances at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
Miller also read a proclamation recognizing Vietnamese American Remembrance Day on April 30, marking anniversaries related to the end of the Vietnam War and honoring service members. Commissioners adopted both proclamations by voice vote.
On the consent calendar, the board approved routine items and a highlighted update that most structures on the commons property will be demolished to prepare for a redevelopment project; the Harney Building and the Exhibit Hall are expected to remain. Commissioners said those demolitions are part of an ongoing redevelopment plan.
The board unanimously authorized county staff to submit an application for the 2025–26 property tax program (CAFA) grant to help fund assessment and taxation services, following a prior presentation by County Assessor Joe Davidson.
