Summary
Council authorized a change order with GLH Construction to resume and extend the Timnath Reservoir Trail project after receiving a construction easement; the change order uses carried-over funds and general trail-development contingency.
The Timnath Town Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 32, Series 2025, authorizing a change order to GLH Construction to finish remaining work on the Timnath Reservoir Trail and to add an approximately 950-linear-foot section on the reservoir’s west side.
Staff told council the town recently secured a construction easement from Wild Wing Metro District that allowed resumption of a portion of the trail the town had delayed. The east-side section that had been carried over from the 2024 project is now ready to be completed; staff proposed adding the 950-foot west-side segment (an existing access road with improved grade and alignment) to the contract so the contractor can finish it without additional mobilization costs.
Staff said funds were carried over from the 2024 project (roughly $375,000 carryover reported by staff) and that by using contingency and remaining contract funds they expect approximately $12,300 to remain after finishing the carried-over work; the change order would use that remainder plus $105,849 from the general trail-development account, leaving an estimated $19,000 balance for future small trail improvements. Council members supported completing the segment now to avoid extra mobilization costs.
Council moved, seconded and approved the change order. Staff will finalize the schedule and return with any minor follow-up items if needed.
