District staff described Disability Studies as a semester course intended for students interested in teaching and human services; the course will cover disability‑related legislation and provide an introduction to special education instruction. Staff said the course is structured so students may earn college credit through Point Park University if they follow the articulation pathway.
District staff and board members discussed transferability of credits. Staff emphasized that the 24 transfer credits are guaranteed at Point Park for students who later enroll there; staff said the district cannot guarantee that other colleges will accept the credits, and that those arrangements depend on receiving institutions’ transfer policies. The board asked staff to include clear parent communications explaining that the guaranteed college credit applies specifically to Point Park and that transfer to other institutions is subject to those institutions’ policies.
Actions recorded in the board packet (items 7.2–7.8) were approved as presented. The agreements and new course are scheduled to be implemented in the 2025–26 school year.
