Chilton County Commission approves consent agenda, a string of resolutions pass unanimously

The Chilton County Commission voted unanimously to adopt a broad consent agenda that included resolutions on grants, contracts, property closings and personnel removals during its regular meeting.
The consent agenda approved minutes and the claims list; a sheriff’s resolution to hire Anthony Radford as a full-time correctional officer; a resolution to authorize submission of the 2025 Homeland Security grama application; a resolution to release an RFP for a virtual reality training system; and a resolution approving the county’s response to a monitoring report for the 2023 Homeland Security Grant. The commission authorized the chairman to sign documents related to Adecco’s Violence Against Women Act fiscal year 24–25 paperwork and approved renewing the county’s grant-administrative contract with Cara Stallman. The commission adopted an updated procurement policy for grant funds.
The board approved two closing agreements for properties at Manuka Park — one with David and Hilda Rose and one with Stephanie and Tanner Glass — and approved excess bid amounts to Delta Properties LLC. The commission authorized Chilton County to bid household hookups under the CDBG water grant referenced in the packet (transcript text: “CB CDBG CY grant”); approved reclassification of Jemetius Peak from the parts department to the road department; and approved SWA invoices noted for March and for an insufficient balance to the state (transcript wording). The consent agenda removed Kevante Robinson and Jerry Knight (retirement) from payroll and adopted animal control policies presented under Commissioner Childress and Commissioner Perkins. The board also approved a bass-tournament contract and authorized the chairman to sign it.
A separate motion to approve Chilton County News invoices passed with one abstention. (During that vote a commissioner noted “1 abstention.”)
The commission opened nominations for two board appointments — Central Alabama Wellness (Gina Whatley nominated) and the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (Sylvia Singleton nominated) — and left nominations open until the next meeting.
Votes noted in the meeting record were by raised-hand voice and the chair announced the outcomes. The meeting record shows all seven commissioners were present for the meeting.
