The mayor presented the proclamation to science teacher Herb Anderson and team members. A team representative said the students began preparing in early October and that winning first place "was a surprise to everyone when they called our name for first place." Arbor Day proclamation: The board proclaimed Friday, April 25, 2025 as Arbor Day in Lisle. The proclamation references J. Sterling Morton (founder figure associated with Arbor Day and the Morton Arboretum in Lisle), notes that the village will distribute a limited number of tree saplings at Prairie Walk Pond beginning at 10 a.m. on April 25, and says the village has been recognized as a Tree City USA for 33 consecutive years and has received the Tree City USA growth award.
Service recognition: The board recognized Trustee Dan Greco for years of service and highlighted programs and accomplishments during Mayor Pisac's eight-year tenure, including a zoning code rewrite, transparency initiatives (video-broadcast meetings and online budget and services), restaurant grant and special events programs, and work on the East Branch DuPage River rehabilitation.
Lisle Restaurant Week: Community engagement specialist Pasden reported that Lisle Restaurant Week began April 21 and runs through April 26, 2025, with 27 participating restaurants (a roughly 28.5% increase over the 21 participants in the prior year). Participating businesses offered promotions, prix-fixe menus, or specials; the village promoted the event via the website, social media posts and reels (the first five registrants received a free reel), a billboard on Ogden Avenue, printed flyers, and coordination with the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau. Pasden said marketing efforts included a full-size billboard outside Schmaltz facing westbound Ogden Avenue.
No formal votes were required for the proclamations and recognitions; Restaurant Week is an informational staff report and the board asked staff to collect feedback via follow-up surveys of participating businesses and possibly residents.
