Olivia, a lifeguard at Sailfish Splash, described the park’s daily lifeguard rotations, stand assignments and use of Hydra Ops checklists during a short on-site briefing. "We have 3 different rotations keeping our eyes on the water at all times," she said.
The procedures are intended to maintain continuous supervision across the waterpark’s features. Olivia said lifeguards rotate through three station groups, and that the park opens at 10 a.m.; seniors assemble rotation sheets each morning in the first-aid room and staff audit every guard daily to confirm equipment and adherence to duties. "All of our staff have access to Hydra Ops which has checklists for every single rotation," she said, adding that the checklists include pre-open and closing items.
Olivia detailed stand assignments and responsibilities. The park has three slide stands: the bottom of the blue slide is a seated stand that signals the top operator when a rider has safely exited; the bottom of the green slide is an in-water stand to assist exits. On the lazy river, multiple stands monitor flow and use River 1 as a key entry and exit point where staff can help guests enter the water. At a concrete island area, a roaming lifeguard conducts a roving watch to ensure rules are followed and guests are safe. She said seated stands "stand up every 5 minutes to make sure that we're getting a view of everything" to maintain alertness and visibility.
The remarks were a descriptive presentation of operational practice; no policy changes, motions or formal actions were recorded or proposed during the talk. Specifics such as staff counts, training certifications and supervisory structure were not specified.
