Gage County closes bidding for proposed multi-custody jail; five proposals received and referred to law-enforcement committee

GAGE COUNTY — The Gage County Board of Supervisors closed bidding at 9:15 a.m. for an RFP seeking design, site evaluation and construction-administration services for a proposed multi-custody county jail and recorded five bid packages.

At the public opening the board staff confirmed receipt of multiple submissions and read several firms— names aloud. Named proposers in the meeting record include Shive Hattery (Lincoln), Goldberg Group Architects (Kansas City), Prochaska and Associates, and Davis Design (Lincoln); the board stated there were five total bids. After closing the bidding, the board voted to receive the proposals and refer the full set of submissions to the law-enforcement committee for review and recommendation on selection. That referral motion carried 7 in favor.

Board members noted that each proposal contained multiple paper copies and a thumb drive. Supervisors said the law-enforcement committee and county staff would review the technical documents and return recommendations to the full board at a later date; no selection or contract award was made at the meeting.

The RFP closing and referral were procedural steps in a procurement process that the board is using to identify architects and engineering teams for the planned facility. County staff said five bids were received at the time bidding closed and will undergo committee-level review for compliance with RFP requirements, technical qualifications and proposed scope of services.

The board did not take further action on contract award at the meeting and directed the law-enforcement committee to bring recommendations back to the board for later consideration.
