Property and Environmental Resources (PER) staff asked the board April 22 to approve a resolution allowing MnDOT to accept federal funds on behalf of Blue Earth County for an electric vehicle project funded through the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP).
Mark Vanderfield and PER staff said the county applied in spring 2024 for CRP funding to add an electric vehicle to the county fleet. The grant covers up to 80% of the project cost and requires a 20% local match. PER requested the board approve submittal of the signed resolution and agency agreement so MnDOT can execute the federal funding acceptance, after which PER will proceed with cooperative purchasing through Sourcewell.
PER presented an estimated total project cost of $70,000 with a required local match of $14,000. Public works previously applied and received a vehicle under the same program in fiscal year 2024, PER staff said. The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
