Blue Earth County board approves multiple planning and zoning plats and permits

The Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners on April 22 approved four Planning & Zoning items forwarded by the Planning Commission: a replat (PC07-25), a subdivision plan (PC08-25), an interim use permit for an elder care dwelling (PC09-25), and a conditional-use permit to expand a beef cattle feedlot (PC10-25).

John Constantine, County Zoning Administrator, presented PC07-25, a request from Scott and Corley Borgmeyer and Jeremy Horkey to replat Borgmeyer Jamestown Subdivision No. 2 (one lot and one outlot). Constantine noted a staff report clarification that referenced two outlots in error; the resolution was corrected and the Planning Commission recommended approval by unanimous vote. The board voted to pass the resolution on the county board’s motion.

The board similarly approved PC08-25 (Bornicki Second Addition), a subdivision plan consisting of three lots and two outlots in Lurae Township; PC09-25, an interim use permit for an elder care dwelling unit at 19820 600th and Eighteenth Avenue, Janesville (filed by Steven and Shannon Frank); and PC10-25, a conditional-use permit requested by Zachary Peterson to expand an existing beef cattle feedlot. For PC10-25, staff described proposed facilities including both total and partial confinement barns, open lots, below-barn liquid manure storage and permanent manure stockpile storage. The presentation listed the proposed numbers as “300 head of beef finishing cattle and 50 head of beef feeder cattle” and stated a total figure in the staff report; the Planning Commission recommended approval for all items and the board carried the resolutions.

There was no recorded public comment on these items at the board meeting. Each item was forwarded by the Planning Commission with staff-prepared findings and recommended conditions; the board’s approvals were recorded as motions and carried.
