Blue Earth County sets June 10 hearing for County Ditch 56 reroute petition

The Blue Earth County Drainage Authority on April 22 set a public hearing for June 10, 2025, to consider a petition to impound, reroute and divert portions of County Ditch 56.
Staff said the County Ditch 56 watershed is roughly 9,400 acres in Garden City and Lincoln Townships and that a petition affecting property in Section 5 of Garden City Township was filed March 11, 2025 on behalf of the Blue Earth County Soil and Water Conservation District and private petitioners Michael and Liz Sant. The drainage authority attorney, Kayla Van Bruggen, reviewed the petition and found it adequate without requiring a bond because the Soil and Water Conservation District is one of the petitioners.
Engineer Charles J. Brando of ISG was appointed to prepare an engineer’s review report and submit it to the drainage authority. The board approved the motion to set the public hearing for June 10, 2025, at 9 a.m.; the motion carried unanimously.
No public comment was recorded at the April 22 meeting on this item. The hearing will review the engineer’s report and allow public input at the scheduled date.
