During the public‑comment period at the April 22 Farmers Branch council meeting, resident Jennifer Evans asked the council to expand consideration of safety improvements at the Rawhide Parkway and Josie Lane intersection beyond the possible installation of a traffic signal.
Evans told the council she supports evaluating a traffic signal (an item listed on the consent agenda) but urged additional study of the bridge structure at the location. She said the Colbert bridge was built in the 1960s, described it as "in fair condition" with some erosion of support structure, and suggested a horizontal realignment to reduce a northbound left curvature she said frequently contributes to collisions with a nearby house or concrete fence.
Evans asked that the contract with Kinley Horn (noted on the agenda) be expanded or that additional investigation be included to evaluate bridge improvements and alignments. Planning staff later confirmed they could revisit the matter with the applicant/consultant and provide follow‑up information.
Also during public comment, Rick Johnson thanked public safety personnel for recent work and expressed frustration about political conduct in recent events; his remarks were not linked to a specific agenda item.
No formal council action on the Rawhide Parkway/Josie Lane comments occurred during the meeting; staff acknowledged the request and said they would consider it in follow‑up communications with the contractor.
