Osseo board ratifies Kidstop and nurse contracts, accepts $103,015 in gifts

Board members voted 6-0 to ratify the agreements after staff outlined terms. Yvonne Schwartz-Lind, the district's executive director of human resources, said both contracts run July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026, and described step increases and benefit adjustments for each bargaining group. For the Kidstop instructors (a group the presentation said includes 19 employees) the contract provides base increases in the first year and smaller increases in year two; the district described differentiated step increases for lead instructors and “4‑star” instructors and noted modest increases to district contributions toward benefits. For the registered nurses and licensed practical nurses (a group the presentation said includes 30 employees) staff said the agreement provides a 4% increase in year one and a 2% increase in year two and increases to HSA and family contribution levels.
The board approved the consent agenda earlier in the meeting by a 6-0 vote; the consent package included minutes, extended trips, personnel items, grants, construction bid approvals and other routine items. Later in the action portion of the meeting, the board voted 6-0 to accept gifts to the district totaling $103,015.22.
Board members who moved and seconded the motions were recorded in the meeting. The Kidstop instructors contract was moved by Director Thomas Brooks and seconded by Director Kelsey Dawson; the nurses’ contract was moved by Director Erica Foster and seconded by Director Sarah Mitchell; the gifts motion was moved by Director Brooks and seconded by Director Foster. The public record shows each motion passed on a unanimous 6-0 tally.
According to staff, implementation steps will begin with human resources and payroll following ratification. Presenters said the contract terms are consistent with the financial parameters set by the board. No further board action on these agreements was taken during the meeting.
The approvals close negotiated terms for two employee groups and allow the district to begin administering the new pay and benefit schedules as described in the staff presentation.
