Dr. Johnson presented a district communications update, describing recent work on the website, a move to Constant Contact for email, expanded consultant support from the Donovan Group, and plans to increase video and social media content that highlight student activities.
Dr. Johnson said the district moved website templates to a new provider and is revising pages with a “less is more” approach to ensure pages are living documents. He told the board the district has begun school-site website work and aims to standardize templates across schools.
On email, Dr. Johnson said the district has adopted Constant Contact for its archiving, templating and mobile-friendly features and is evaluating a text-message system for time-sensitive messages. He described the Donovan Group’s work as expanded but at the same cost point, providing regular social media and presentation support to district and school sites.
Board members stressed monitoring and moderation of social channels and the need to use multiple channels for equity of access. Dr. Johnson said some comment features were disabled and the district will coordinate with the Donovan Group on moderation. He also said a videographer will produce short videos this summer and fall to showcase classrooms and programs.
Board members and staff described multiple recent engagement events — STEAM nights, Newsies performances, career day — and said improved, timely communications help prevent misinformation and support community engagement.
