Jennifer McMahon, director of human resources for Saint Charles City, presented recommended corrections to Title 2 of the city code and the Government Operations Committee approved the changes.
McMahon said the review identified grammatical errors and dated language, including gendered pronouns. She recommended replacing pronouns with position titles, correcting a clause that referenced a mayor’s comment timing (noted in the transcript as an apparent five‑day timing correction), updating the job title from "director of information systems" to "director of technology," and removing an obsolete reference to paid on‑call firefighters. McMahon said department directors reviewed position responsibilities as part of the update.
A motion to approve the recommended corrections was made by Councilmember Munn and seconded by Councilmember Vanguard; the committee approved the changes by roll call. There was no public comment on the item during the meeting.
After the vote the committee moved into an executive session to discuss personnel matters; the motion to enter executive session was made by Councilmember Munson and seconded by Councilmember Lencioni and carried on roll call.
