The Kiel Common Council approved a group of routine and project-level items in a set of mostly uncontested votes.
Smart board for Emergency Operations Center
The council approved purchase of a smart-board display system for the City of Kiel Emergency Operations Center at the Kiel Fire Department from Vibe Incorporated for $5,787.05. Staff said funds are available in the fire department’s capital budget and that multiple departments will share the system for training and emergency operations. Motion passed by voice vote.
Sidewalk replacement contract
Council accepted a bid from Veil Dix Incorporated for $64,900 to replace marked sidewalk panels as part of the city’s biennial sidewalk program; staff said the city budgeted $100,000 for the program. Motion passed by roll call.
Hiring: electric lineman apprentice
Council approved hiring Matthew Bruner (transcript also referenced as Matthew Bruner/Bruner) for the position of electric lineman apprentice with the Kiel Utilities, effective 04/23/25, per the written offer of employment and after completion of background and pre-employment screenings. Staff noted Bruner completed a nine-month electric certificate program at NWTC, which may reduce required schooling time in the apprenticeship.
Temporary Class B license
Council approved a temporary Class B license for Badger Tri-County VFW Post 67 for an event on Monday, May 26, 2025. Motion was made and seconded; council approved.
Finance motions and routine business
Council approved receipts and disbursements, and voted to pay bills by roll call (recorded as 5-0). Minutes from the April 15 city organizational meeting were approved earlier in the meeting by motion. The meeting adjourned following approval of bills.
