Renton council adopts consent agenda, airport month-to-month lease and multiple project amendments

The Renton City Council on a unanimous or near-unanimous voice vote adopted its consent agenda and approved multiple committee recommendations, including a month-to-month premises lease with Boss Air LLC at the Renton Municipal Airport and supplemental contract work for airport and stormwater projects.

The council accepted a proclamation naming April 2025 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and concurred with Transportation Aviation Committee recommendations to confirm two appointments to the Renton Airport Advisory Committee and to authorize contract amendments related to airport projects. The Utilities Committee’s recommendations to authorize an engineering amendment for the Lynn Avenue Southwest storm system project and a construction change order for the Burnett/Williams storm improvement project were also approved.

The Utilities Committee recommended and the council approved Amendment No. 1 to Contract 24098 with WSP USA for $349,657 for engineering services to design water-quality treatment facilities for the Lynn Avenue Southwest storm system improvement project. The council also approved Change Order No. 1 to Contract 24098 with RL Aileyah Company in the amount of $270,425 for additional pavement restoration and trench backfill quantities on the Burnett Avenue South and Williams Avenue South storm system improvement work; a council member noted the change order remains within the project budget.

During votes, one council member asked whether abstention was allowed on the Boss Air LLC lease and registered an abstention "with lack of information"; the clerk was asked to note that abstention. Finally, the council voted to recess into an executive session of approximately 30 minutes to discuss purchase of real estate under the statute cited on the record; no action was taken in the executive session and the meeting was to adjourn afterward.
