The DC Everest Area School District board voted April 15 to authorize administration to strategically spend remaining fiscal‑year funds and to transfer any unspent balance into Fund 46 by the statutory deadline of July 30, 2025.
Administration told the board that critical pipe repairs at the junior high are underway. ‘‘To date, we've spent just over $263,000,’’ a district staff presenter said, and the district is considering relining one to two additional pipes after summer school. The presenter said the district expects to absorb the costs within the current fiscal year and estimated the additional work could be ‘‘in the half‑million ballpark’’ depending on outstanding unknowns, including PTO payouts and storm drainage repairs.
The board approved the authorization by voice vote and gave the business office direction to monitor expenditures and, if funds remain, transfer them to Fund 46 no later than July 30, 2025. Administration noted historically large transfers into Fund 46 (the presenter referenced a prior year transfer of about $2,000,000) but said the upcoming transfer is likely to be smaller.
Board members pressed for order‑of‑magnitude figures and for continued updates on the pipe work timeline and costs. Administration said some relining work will need to wait until after summer school to avoid disrupting programming.
