Tyler ISD honors students, teachers, Special Olympics participants and UIL winners

Elementary Students of the Month were fifth-graders Titan and Cannon Hartsock of Jack Elementary (twins). Secondary Students of the Month were seniors Cainan Sewing and Christian Sewing of Tyler High School; the Sewing brothers were recognized for leadership on and off the football field and for plans to play at Tyler Junior College.
The board recognized Special Olympics athletes who participated in district events for the 2024–25 school year across basketball, bowling, bocce and swimming; the transcript lists participants including Robbie Fancher, Ben Fancher, Lily McDougall, Nala Smith, Levi Gower, DJ Jones, Kinley Gower, Patricia Vega and Lila Wade.
District UIL sweepstakes recognitions included Caldwell Arts Academy varsity orchestra, Tyler Legacy High School non‑varsity and varsity orchestras, Tyler Legacy varsity mixed choir, and Tyler High School varsity orchestra; campus groups came forward for photos with the board and superintendent.
The board named Misty Atmier of Jack Elementary as Elementary District Teacher of the Month for reading instruction and data-driven classroom practice, and Yayoi Jones of the Career and Technology Center as Secondary District Teacher of the Month for career and technical education instruction and professional teamwork. The recognitions segment was presented with sponsorship acknowledgment to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
