Bryan council approves amphitheater sponsorships, equipment grants and Autumn Chase infrastructure bids; multiple resolutions pass unanimously

- Resolution number 22 20 25: Accepted a $9,380 donation from various sponsors to the Parks and Recreation Department for the Fountain City Amphitheater. Council voted to suspend rules and approve the resolution.
- Ordinance number 16 20 25: Enacted an ordinance providing for the city’s annual fiscal matters for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2025, declared an emergency and included the amphitheater donations and two small police grants (body armor and body-worn camera equipment). Council approved the emergency ordinance on the same night.
- Ordinance number 17 20 25: Approved the final plat for Autumn Chase Phase 4, a planned unit residential development comprising 11 buildable lots and an approximately 400-foot extension of Spring Meadow Lane. Council voted to approve the final plat after the Planning Commission recommendation; the developer will later present Phase 5 separately.
- Resolution number 262025: Authorized the Clerk/Treasurer to advertise for bids for street, sewer, water, and electrical infrastructure improvements tied to the previously approved Autumn Chase subdivision; staff said final assessments to lot owners will be determined after bids are received and the project is expected to be constructed in October–November if bids align with estimates.
- Ordinance number 18 20 25: Granted conditional-use approval in a Mixed-Use (MU) zoning district for a vehicle repair garage at 222 East Charles Street. Planning staff said storage will be behind the building and a privacy fence will screen storage areas.
- Resolution number 232025: Authorized participation in the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) statewide road-salt contract for 2025; the city’s allocation this year is 800 tons.
- Resolution number 242025: Authorized the mayor to accept a $42,000 grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for purchase of brine application equipment and an additional storage tank for the Streets Department. Staff said the equipment will enable two brine vehicles and reduce reliance on rock salt in appropriate weather conditions.
- Resolution (bulletproof vest grant): Authorized the police chief to apply for the Attorney General’s bulletproof vest reimbursement grant program (department pays up front and applies for approximately 70 percent reimbursement). Staff said a vest with carrier runs about $1,100–$1,200.
- Tuition reimbursement: Approved tuition assistance of roughly $1,500 for Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Mokovich for a required summer course in a bachelor’s program at BG; staff described the course as directly relevant to his current role.
Council also received the Clerk/Treasurer’s monthly financial reports and miscellaneous department updates. Several items were described by staff as previously awarded grants or routine programmatic approvals; council’s roll-call votes on each formal action were recorded as unanimous for members present.
