District 128 administrators presented the annual Educational Support Professional (ESP) staffing report to the Board’s Personnel Committee, detailing program‑driven changes, new positions to support assessment and accommodations, and an overall net loss of one ESP position for the district.
School leaders said the workload for testing accommodations and assessment coordination has increased and that the district is creating two 10‑month assessment and accommodations administrative assistant positions (one per building) to support certified staff and building teams. "The purpose of that role is to work with our certified staff and our director of data assessment... to help coordinate all of the accommodations for all of our students," a presenter explained.
Program changes reflect joint committee recommendations on intervention services: part‑time math tutors were increased at both buildings, executive‑functioning tutors were retained at both sites, and some English and science tutor positions were reduced. Paraprofessional changes were described as driven by student needs and course requests; district staff said openings exist for affected employees and that there will be no reduction in force at this time.
Administrators also previewed other employment items (certified staffing, administrative contracts) that will appear on the full board consent agenda at an upcoming meeting.
