At the Personnel Committee meeting, administrators said they will present an action item to the full Board at the next meeting and then submit the required plan to ISBE. “We were identified by Illinois State Board of Education,” said a district presenter, explaining that ISBE’s identification follows three statutory criteria.
District staff named Dr. Jessica Herman and Larry Varne, director of equity and inclusion, as leads on the work and said the district aims to reduce its racial disproportionality rate by the 2025‑26 school year. Officials noted a timing issue: ISBE’s notice arrived in March although the campus believed the submission deadline was February 1; staff said they began the work immediately after receiving ISBE’s communication.
The committee was told the proposed plan will include targeted conversations and interventions; the district will present the final plan for board approval before submitting it to ISBE.
