City staff said Superior Tire owns all parcels adjacent to the unopened roadway and that vacation would terminate at the company’s property line, resulting in a dead end that city staff said would not compromise potential future traffic flow or affect other property owners. Superior indicated it intends to construct a new facility and expand production capability on the site.
The council motion established the public hearing date and time. Staff enclosed a location map and a plaque showing the proposed vacation area for public review; the hearing will be held immediately prior to the May council meeting, staff said.
Councilmembers welcomed the development prospect and indicated the hearing process will allow public input before council votes to approve or deny any vacation ordinance. The motion to establish the hearing date passed on a roll-call vote.
