Lincoln Public Schools board appoints Mara Krivilovic to fill District 5 vacancy

The motion passed unanimously.
Board members recognized Boswell’s 12 years of service to students, families, staff and the Lincoln community. Board remarks noted Boswell’s prior leadership roles, including time as board president and vice president and involvement with regional boards and committees. The board’s administration described Krivilovic as the only candidate on the ballot for District 5 who received a majority in the April 8 city primary; the appointment will allow continuity on the board while the election process completes.
After the roll call vote, Krivilovic took the formal oath of office administered at the meeting and signed the oath. The board’s recording official then provided the oath to the district recording secretary and seated Krivilovic as an official member.
Board members who supported the motion did not record any votes against it; the roll call recorded unanimous approval.
The vacancy had arisen following Boswell’s passing on April 9 after a battle with oral cancer. Board remarks summarized Boswell’s public service and personal contributions to the district, including prior work on parent committees and leadership in local educational organizations.
The appointment and oath mean Krivilovic will serve on the Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education and Educational Service Unit 18 until the newly elected board members are sworn in at the annual organization meeting on May 19, 2025.
