The Village of Machesney Park Board of Trustees voted unanimously April 21 to appoint Tim Gentry to fill a vacancy on the village Planning and Zoning Commission.
Mayor Steve Johnson asked for a motion to appoint Gentry; the motion passed on a voice and roll-call vote after Trustee James Kidd moved for appointment and Trustee Bailey seconded. The roll call recorded seven ayes and zero nays. After the vote, Mayor Johnson welcomed Gentry to the commission, saying, "I personally would like to welcome Tim on board as one of the village's newest commissioners to the planning and zoning commission, and I know he'll be a great addition to the commission." (Mayor Steve Johnson)
At the same time, Mayor Johnson placed the name of Tom Yowell in nomination for the Planning and Economic Development Committee. The mayor said Yowell's name will be considered at the May 5 board meeting; no formal vote on that nomination occurred during the April 21 session.
The appointment fills a vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission; the meeting record did not specify the term length or an effective date for Gentry's appointment.
