Beloit council approves PUD master plan and land sale to Blackhawk Transport for Gateway Boulevard headquarters

The Beloit City Council approved a planned unit development (PUD) master land use plan for a portion of 2001 Gateway Boulevard and later authorized the sale of roughly 13 acres of city-owned land at that address to Blackhawk Transport to build a headquarters and vehicle maintenance facility.

The PUD master land use plan (agenda item 4b) was approved after a public hearing and a presentation by city planning staff. The council laid over the related future land use map amendment (item 4a) and the rezoning from C-3 Community Commercial District to PUD (item 4c) for later consideration.

Why it matters: The proposal would allow Blackhawk Transport to construct an office building and a maintenance and storage complex at a city-owned parcel in the Gateway area, bringing a pledged private investment and a package of city incentives that depend on final approvals and conditions, including a required wetland delineation.
