Councilors noted current ash-tree replacement plantings in several neighborhoods and discussed emerald ash borer impacts; Nick confirmed emerald ash borer presence in the city and described ongoing treatment and replacement strategies.
A motion to adopt the Arbor Day resolution, with a friendly amendment adding the words "sequester carbon" to the third whereas clause, was moved, seconded and passed unanimously.
The council requested that anyone wishing to sign the updated document do so after the meeting; staff indicated the amended resolution would be dated and printed for signatures.
