The Calimesa City Council reviewed and approved revised job descriptions for senior-level permit technician and code enforcement positions during the April 21 meeting.
Council members asked staff to align the education and experience language across postings and to confirm salary range details to support recruitment for technically demanding positions. Councilmember Edgar Garcia asked that the senior permit technician description clarify the education requirement (high school completion versus equivalent) so applicants understand minimum qualifications. Staff said the language could be adjusted to read “high school diploma” for clarity and that the differences in wording were not intended to lower standards.
Council members noted pay-range details were not included in the attachment and asked staff to confirm salary ranges; staff said the fiscal impact would be determined when recruitment occurs and that pay is set by the adopted salary schedule.
After discussion, councilseconded and approved the items as part of the consent/Personnel action.
Staff said the postings were modeled on comparable positions in other cities and that a clarified, consistent format will help recruitment.
