Carol Stream honors Sgt. Kelly Lolly after 27 years with police department

The Village Board of Carol Stream on April 21 adopted Resolution No. 3413 honoring Sergeant Kelly Lolly on his retirement after 27 years with the Carol Stream Police Department.
The resolution, read into the record by the clerk, lists Lolly’s service milestones: he joined the department on March 30, 1998; served in roles including lead homicide investigator, juvenile officer, range officer, evidence technician and detective; served on the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force; and was promoted to sergeant in August 2019. The resolution also notes his graduation from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command on Jan. 15, 2021 and multiple commendations, including a chief’s award of merit for homicide-investigation work.
Sgt. Kelly Lolly addressed the board and attendees, saying, “It’s been a good ride, 27 years. It went a lot faster than I thought it would, but here it is. So, thank you very much. It’s been an honor to work and serve for the village.” He thanked the village, his family and department colleagues and said the work allowed him to provide for his family and contribute to the community.
Trustees and the mayor offered brief remarks of appreciation and wished Lolly well in retirement. The resolution states that the board recognizes his service and commends his accomplishments; it took effect after approval by law.
The meeting record includes additional department retirements on the consent agenda: Resolution No. 3414 honoring Cheryl Luz and Resolution No. 3415 recognizing Douglas Duntonman’s 20 years of service. The board’s recognition of Lolly was followed by a small reception and photo opportunities recorded in the meeting minutes.
