Frank Patterson, who identified himself as a resident of Safety Harbor and said he has lived in the city almost 30 years, used the public comment period April 21 to urge the commission to improve maintenance at the city dog park and to address parking enforcement in nearby streets.
“I know some of you commissioners must have dogs, but I bet a dollar to a donut that none of you use the city park, the city dog park, because it is sad,” Patterson said. He listed several problems: untrimmed vegetation, a hole he called “a liability” and “a tripping hazard,” rusted picnic furniture and low attention compared with nearby facilities.
Patterson also raised concerns about parking and enforcement: he said painted curbs and stop signage at intersections such as Tenth and Seventh streets are “totally ignored,” and that he had contacted the sheriff’s department previously without seeing enforcement results.
The commission did not take formal action during the meeting on the issues raised; the item was made during the public comment portion and recorded for follow-up as part of the public record.
