Board finalizes David Bossardette as district safety specialist

The Flagler County School Board approved personnel item 11.01 on April 22 to appoint David Bossardette to the district safety specialist role that had been vacated by Mr. Willahan.
Superintendent Moore summarized Bossardette’s experience: "He served in various roles throughout the organization. He's been a teacher, district behavior specialist, district coordinator of risk management, as well as our district safety specialist, and an assistant principal. He navigated us through COVID as the district safety specialist and risk management specialist at the time, and we are excited to have him back." The superintendent also noted his working relationships with the sheriff’s office and NEFEC on risk-management matters.
Board members clarified the appointment finalizes a previously filled role rather than creating a new position. The motion to approve was made by Christie Chong and seconded by Lauren Ramirez; the board voted unanimously to confirm the appointment.
Staff said the appointment will place the district safety and risk-management responsibilities under Bossardette’s purview going forward.
