Supervisors report on regional water and wildfire concerns at Greenlee County meeting

One supervisor said they attended a meeting at Eastern Arizona College with state lawmakers and received updates on budget matters and other topics. The supervisor thanked County Manager Derek for attending and said the discussion was "very informative." Another supervisor recounted Small County and County Supervisors Association meetings where Representative Gail Griffin and state officials addressed water issues and wolf management, and described presentations from the state forestry director and the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
The supervisor described the forestry and water presentations as stark, calling the outlook for moisture and fire risk "gloom and doom" and urging preparedness. He said State Forester Tom Torres discussed proactive measures in multiple locations across the state and that the Department of Water Resources director Thomas Bruchowski would forward presentation materials to counties. "He's gonna forward it to all of us because there was a lot of information that was touched on these 2 subjects," the supervisor said.
