Lake Dallas ISD trustees recognize students, coaches and volunteers for UIL, arts and athletics accomplishments

Lake Dallas Independent School District trustees on April 21 recognized students, coaches and community volunteers for this school year’s academic, arts and athletic achievements across multiple campuses.
The recognitions highlighted state- and regional-level advancement in University Interscholastic League (UIL) events, district championships in athletics, regional visual-arts medals and choir sweepstakes awards that school officials said reflect broad participation and preparation across the district.
Speech and debate coach Stephen Bell told the board the Lake Dallas High School debate team won the district cross-examination championship and placed first, second and third at district. He said two teams — Ruby and Isabella — advanced to the 4A state tournament and reached the quarterfinal round. Bell also summarized the district’s academic contest results: Ray Bridal placed fifth in calculator applications; Elena Clemens placed fifth in mathematics and won first place in spelling and vocabulary and will advance to region; Rebecca Skousen was fourth in science and won first in chemistry and will advance to region; Esther Kitamura placed sixth in science. Bell said the high school math and science teams both finished third overall in the district.
Coaches Nathan Davis and Brandon Martin presented the high school boys and girls soccer seasons. Davis said the boys finished the season 18-5-2, scored 80 goals and finished second in district; in playoffs they advanced to a regional final and were eliminated by Casselberry. Coach Brandon Martin reported the girls recorded a 16-7-2 season after moving from 5A to 4A, scored 74 goals and allowed 32; the girls went 10-0 in district play to win the district championship and advanced into the playoffs before losing in the second round to “Life walks,” which the coach described as a team that reached the state semifinals.
Art teachers Janette Murray and Jenny Rios reported a sweep of superior ratings at the regional visual-arts competition: 45 student entries from Lake Dallas earned superior ratings and regional medals, and three students advanced to state-level juried competition — Amelia Banaga, Elena Blake and Joanna M. The teachers said the three will compete at state in San Marcos on Saturday (regional/state date described in meeting material as the coming Saturday).
Choir directors Christina Reed (middle school) and Laura Jenkins (high school) reported top honors at the UIL choral contest. Reed said both the varsity and intermediate treble choirs earned sweepstakes awards. Jenkins said the high school varsity mixed choir received straight 1 (superior) ratings from concert judges and straight 1s in sight‑reading; she named section leaders and soloists including Jocelyn Aguilar, Aidan Cheshire and Olivia Reyes and read judges’ praise for intonation, balance and ensemble work.
Track coaches Bridal Roberson and Brittany Robson highlighted regional qualifiers and multiple school records. The coaches listed individual qualifiers (including Jaishawn Hardeman, Jet Love, Caden Hedrick, Malcolm Simon, Mason Groover and Isaiah Morrison) and said the program set several school records this season. Coaches thanked athletic director Scott Head and campus administrators for support.
Chief operations officer John Modica described the Falcon Insider program, a district outreach effort that takes parents and community members through operations including child nutrition, transportation and custodial services; Modica read a list of participants and noted the program toured all five campuses and district facilities.
The board recessed for photographs and continued with its agenda. The recognitions were presented in open session and did not include formal action by the trustees.
Lake Dallas ISD provided the recognitions to publicly acknowledge student achievement, program participation and community volunteers; presenters asked the board and public to congratulate the students and staff on their season- and contest-long accomplishments.
