City staff noted the location is within 300 feet of Aspen Community Magnet School, 450 La Madera Street, and La Comunidad de Los Ninos Head Start, 1121 Alto Street. The application requests alcohol service from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on May 3. The applicant was not present at the hearing; staff said the applicant was out of town and no representative appeared in the waiting room.
Gutierrez and City Clerk Julie reported the event is an annual gala and that both nearby schools submitted letters stating they had no objection to alcohol service at the event. No other written comments were received. Based on the completeness of the application and the lack of objection from the two schools, staff recommended advancing the waiver request to the governing body for consideration so the event can proceed on the requested date.
No formal vote occurred at the hearing; the governing body will review the waiver request at a later meeting.
