Another petition involved Ameren Illinois proposing a solar farm with battery backup on Pottstown Road to store electricity for later use. The committee record said the state's program provides demonstration funding — the presentation referenced state sites receiving up to $20,000,000 each for storage projects — and that the county has participated in planning and an inspection with the fire department. The committee approved the Ameren petition in committee with one nay vote and forwarded it to the county board for final action. Rosenbaum said county emergency-services staff had toured an existing plant to understand operations and potential fire-safety issues; the committee assigned follow-up coordination to county public-safety officials.
Rosenbaum said the third zoning petition considered in the committee passed unanimously; the committee also heard one public comment offering praise for county services.
The committee's approvals are recommendations to the full county board, which must take formal zoning or permit action as required by county code. The committee did not record board-level approvals at this meeting.
