Senator King introduced Senate Bill 2139 to require the Texas Military Department to renegotiate a deed conveying land to the city of Mineral Wells in 1953 so that a reversionary clause would be removed.
King said the deed originally conveyed the property for rodeo purposes and that the Parker County Livestock Association and the city of Mineral Wells need flexibility to develop the land for a different purpose than originally contemplated in 1953. He described the bill as narrowly focused on having the Texas Military Department renegotiate the deed to remove the reversionary interest.
The committee opened and closed public testimony without speakers and left Senate Bill 2139 pending for further consideration.
